July 2024 update
Colchester last had its carnival after a break of a few years in 2019 when it was brought back by a group of volunteers including members of the fire service in Colchester . 2020 then came and went with the time of lockdowns plans for a VE Day themed celebration never came to fruition.
So this now begs a question ...
We are having another carnival procession and Fun Day in 2026. Would you like to be involved? Do you have experience with events? Voluntary work and organising?
The team from 2019 are interested to hear what you think and see whether you want a Colchester carnival again. Comment below send a direct message or email the website if you are interested in being involved.

2019's theme was 'Colchester and Proud" which you can come at from a number of angles.
Maybe you want to think about what Colchester is famous for?
Just some ideas.
You can also think about what Colchester is famous for more recently such as it's night life, Colchester Zoo and the Mercury theatre.
Being proud though isn't just about what we are famous for. We are proud of our emergency services, our shopping (Fenwicks, formerly Williams & Griffins as an example). We are proud of the night time volunteers such as the SOS bus but most importantly we should just be proud to be from, live in or work in Colchester.
It is a great town with a lot going for it. So we want groups from all communities to be involved as being a multi cultural town is something we are all proud of.
As you can see the theme offers so much opportunity. The main thing is that you show off the best of Colchester, using sound, light and movement to bring it alive. Just making the Carnival as vibrant and inclusive as possible is something we can all be proud of.
